July 29, 2002   Keeping you on track!!!
Welcome to the Wildlifeuk newsletter
Another week has passed by, which has seen me chained to the edit desk working on the Badger film. The task is not easy, with twelve hours of footage to edit down to forty-five minuets. This large amount of footage is a direct result of the project being shot on video, with the advantage of cheap running costs. If in doubt, run the camera. Despite all this footage there is still some linking shots to add, so at least I will get a trip out in the coming week. If you are wondering why I am editing now, instead of taking advantage of the nice weather, the reason is simple. I wish to leave plenty of time in the coming autumn to continue filming the Red kites. And take advantage of the low sun to light the underside of these spectacular birds.

Barn Owls are often associated with churchyards, and their high-pitched screams coupled with their wraith like appearance in the half-light. Has been the source of many a ghost story? This picture is another example of an understanding wife. The temporary studio being in this case the living room, with the gravestone stood on the coffee table. Fortunately Ollie, the hand reared Barn Owl, took it all in his stride. Well it was a talking point for visitors, - Now where is Lurch?
